Senior Business Systems Analyst

We are looking for a Senior Business Systems Analyst to join the Data stream of a large banking software development programme. You will translate business needs into clear functional and non-functional specifications for data-oriented solutions, acting as the link between business stakeholders, IT architects, developers, testers and application administrators. Hands-on experience in both Risk and Finance regulatory reporting is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage with business stakeholders to clarify and challenge requirements, and recommend on feasibility, benefits and risks.

• Analyse functional and performance impact on target systems, connected systems and the wider IT landscape.

• Estimate analysis effort and raise impediments early.

• Translate business requirements into structured functional and non-functional specifications.

• Work with design roles to shape the functional solution and document functional decisions.

• Support development and testing: clarifications, ST/SIT and UAT scenario definition, management of approved requirement changes.

• Support implementation and stabilisation, including analysis of issues linked to new requirements.

• Review and improve analysis deliverables and keep project documentation at a high standard.

• Perform functional and gap analysis for application procurement and RfPs.

• Act as subject matter expert: mentor colleagues, prepare training and guide complex cases.

• Where assigned, support governance topics (BIA, IAM, policies, audits, risk actions, incident follow-up).

Mandatory Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant Business Systems Analysis experience.

• Hands-on experience in both Risk regulatory reporting and Finance regulatory reporting.

• Financial services background and participation in large banking software development projects.

• Practical experience implementing data management solutions: data warehouse and reporting systems.

• Advanced SQL in at least one technology (T-SQL, PL/SQL or DB2 SQL).

• Strong knowledge of business requirements analysis and structured specification methods.

• Understanding of the SDLC, with experience in Agile and Waterfall delivery.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Computer Science or a related field.

• Advanced / fluent English, written and spoken.

• JIRA, Confluence, UML, query utilities, documentation, mock-up and diagramming tools.

• Coaching, mentoring and training experience; relevant professional certifications.
